Japan Auto Exports can find any Japanese used car you like – any make or model, including family sedans, convertibles and sports cars. We also offer pre-owned commercial vehicles, SUVs, vans and trucks.
We do not buy any vehicle without checking it first. In our experience, the auction checking sheets are only a rough indication of the condition of the car. So we inspect each second hand car personally to make sure it meets your expectations. In every case, you can trust us to give you the true facts about the condition of the motor vehicle.
Even a car in good condition can have minor problems, like a weak or dead battery, blown tail lamp, or electric window that doesn’t work. We fix all these things, so the car is ready to drive when you get it. We even get the car valet cleaned inside and out.
Procedure to export a vehicle from Japan
Exporting a pre-owned vehicle from Japan involves a number of steps:
1. Buy the car, usually at auction
2. Change the car documents from deregistration to export registration
3. Book the shipping by first available ship.
4. Get the car inspected by the relevant authority, depending on the country where the car is exported to, e.g. Jevic (Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Center) or JAAI (Japan Auto Appraisal Institute)
5. Hand vehicle over to the port authorities, whose job is to prepare the documents and move the vehicles on board the ship
6. Get custom clearance in Japan
7. Collect the bill of lading from the shipping company once the ship has left.
None of these steps require that the exporter is a legal company. However, dealing with a properly registered Japanese car exporter such as Japan Auto Exports gives you the peace of mind that nothing will go wrong… And if it does, there is someone you can get hold of to solve the problem.

Our office is closed on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays but our office landline calls are transferred to our mobile phone when our office is closed. So you will get in touch with us anytime you call us. You can check Japan time on our website and we expect you do not call us during the middle of the night but if there is an emergency, we can be reached at our mobile phone 24 hours a day. There will always be someone to attend the phone.

How we make car import/export easy for you
At every stage, we keep you up to date with how your vehicle purchase is progressing.
Once we know what car you want, we immediately check with the shipping company to find out about shipping dates to your part of the world. When we have bought the car for you, we tell you when the ship will leave and when you can expect to get your motor vehicle.
Once you have paid for your pre-owned Japanese car, we’ll get it on the water on its way to you as soon as possible. If we cannot ship your car soon enough for whatever reason, you don’t have to pay anything other than a small deposit to reserve the vehicle. This can be as little as US$300 to US$500 per car, depending on its value.
Within 48 working hours of the ship with your car leaving Nagoya, we’ll send you all the purchase documents. So you’ll have it long before your car arrives at your local port.
Helping you buy personally on auction in Japan
We welcome our clients to visit us in Japan and buy their cars personally at auctions.
We provide you with the necessary support and go with you to the auction. That way we overcome any language problems. Depending on the number of cars you buy, we can provide a pick-up and drop-off service from the airport and even free accommodation.
For dealers who buy cars regularly each month and in bulk, we can arrange special cost effective plans.
